User Selects Your Free Wi-Fi: When a user enters the venue, their device (smartphone, laptop, tablet) detects and displays the available WiFi networks. They then select your Cisco Meraki network designated as the Guest Network.
Automatic Redirection: The Meraki Network Application (Controller), configured for usage of our Fydelia external portal, intercepts this connection before granting full network access. Our captive portal software layer, running on top of this hardware infrastructure, detects the incoming connection and serves the pre-designed splash page to the user.
Custom Splash Page: The user’s browser loads the captive portal splash page hosted by Fydelia. Access to Fydelia’s servers is permitted before full authorization, thanks to the “Pre-Authorization Access” settings configured in the Meraki Controller.
The user interacts with the Fydelia portal page: This interaction depends on how the Fydelia session is set up but typically involves actions like logging in (using social media, email, a code, etc.), accepting terms and conditions, or viewing presented information. This is a place where we can showcase promos, deals, and other marketing or loyalty messages.
Access Grant: After successful submission of their details, Fydelia authenticates the user. We communicate with the underlying network hardware (your Cisco Meraki Network Application) to grant the user’s device access to the internet.
Data Association: We further associate the captured email address (and other submitted data) with the user’s device. This allows for potential tracking of user behavior within the WiFi network or sending promotional material to the user.
Continued Access: The user can now enjoy the free WiFi access according to the rules defined in the Meraki guest policies (like bandwidth limits or duration). In the background, their email address remains stored within our system for future marketing, communication, or analytics purposes, as per your privacy policy and applicable regulations.
